Workstation Agents (wagents)

Do I need a different workstation agent, for the different types of devices I have?

Yes: we provide four types of workstation agents (MAC, Chromebook, Windows and Azure) these can all be requested for your requirements.

-

The school next to me is also using Netsweeper can I use their workstation agents?

No, each school has its own specific workstation agents, they are configured for your specific Netsweeper reference.

-

How do I install the workstation agent?

Each device type has a different setup, please follow the Online Support Documentation found in our knowledge base area.

-

How does the workstation agent work?

When the WAGENT is triggered it sends the IP address of the device and the ID of the user to the Netsweeper web admin server by API call. The user is then matched to a group.

-

What if there isn't a match?

If the user doesn’t match a group, then the selected default web filtering is applied (normally pupil filtering but can be different).
