Should I use Schools Broadbands SMTP Relay?

We recommend that schools run their own outbound SMTP service, this avoids issues with Bulk Email and blacklisting by our relays. However, we do operate an SMTP service accessible only via Talk Straight IP addresses.

What is Schools Broadbands SMTP Relay setting?

Please use relay.schoolsbroadband.co.uk. Please note: that if you are using a connection not belonging to us, we cannot relay your e-mail via this service.

-

Which speed test service does Schools Broadband recommend?

Schools Broadband recommends Speedtest.net, we do operate a speedtest.net service within our infrastructure. please select the server Talk Straight (Ilkley). Don't worry it's in London.

-

Why use Talk Straight (Ilkley) for Speedtest.net?

This is due to the fact that not all speedtest.net servers are capable of running up to 10Gbps and multiple running tests can easily saturate a server, by defaulting and letting Speedtest.net choose the server for you, you can often get poor results, especially on high capacity circuits.
